Meet the Editor-in-Chief
CINDY HOCHMAN is a native of Brooklyn, New York. She is the editor-in-chief of First Literary Review-East, an online poetry journal whose publisher (Isles Press) is based in Thailand.
Cindy is an associate editor of Mobius, the Poetry Magazine (editor-in-chief is Juanita Torrence-Thompson).
By day, Cindy is employed as a legal proofreader in Brooklyn Heights and a legal assistant at a Manhattan personal injury law firm, but at night she can be found roaming the streets of the East or West Village, seeking poetry and wine!
She has her own proofreading business called Harrison/Hochman "100 Proof," with Leigh Harrison. They can help you polish up your manuscript (at a very reasonable rate!)
Cindy is the co-host of the Green Pavilion reading series in Brooklyn, the associate editor of Poetry Thin Air Cable Show, a contributing book reviewer for Coldfront Magazine, Home Planet News, Gently Read Literature, Pedestal Magazine, Pirene's Fountain, and New Mirage Journal. She is a member of Brevitas, an email group devoted to short poems. And she's also a cancer survivor (hence, the pink-colored background on this page!)
She is on the Board of Directors of the Civil War Roundtable, which studies the era in which Walt Whitman wrote his poems!
Her poetry has appeared, or is forthcoming, in the New York Quarterly, Clockwise Cat, Marymark Press (broadside), Pegasus, freefall, Sunken Lines, Erato, the New Mirage Journal, the Long Islander/Walt's Corner, Brevitas Anthology, Brownstone Poets Anthology, 5of4 Music (poem will be set to music), Soul Fountain, Nuthouse, Rhyme & Punishment, Stray Branch, Thoughts for All Seasons, and Alternatives to Surrender (a cancer anthology).
Cindy is proud to be the editor of this lit journal, hopes to showcase new and exciting voices (along with "old and exciting voices"), and looks forward to meeting you through your poetry - SO PLEASE STOP WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND SUBMIT ... RIGHT NOW!!!
